A line up of surfers with their heavy wooden longboards. In the original photo there is one lone woman surfer with the men. I imagine it was very unusual for any women to surf in those days. In this interpretation, I have painted her in modern swimmers and a pink rashie. She was obviously a modern woman ahead of her time.
I don’t know the date nor the location of the photo, so I have imagined it to be at Bronte beach. Judging by the style of swimmers, I’m guessing it’s circa 1920-1930.
