Painted using a reference of an old photo of Coogee beach looking south. The scene is circa late 1880’s, when only a few buildings graced the south headland. I’m guessing the visible road is our current day Beach Street.
Because the reference image dates back to the 1800’s, I worked with sepia tones to convey a sense of history and retain the historic ‘photographic’ feel of this painting.
