This painting was inspired by an 1887 photograph of Rose Bay. I guess this was taken in the afternoon on the western side of the bay, as that’s really the only likely area given the way the shadows are cast in the photo. The jetty seems to be in the same location as it is today. In my mind, this reflects a relaxing Sunday afternoon, so I’ve titled it as such.
