Bondi beach originally had an expanse of sand dunes which stretched as far as Rose Bay. This painting is inspired by a photo taken in the 1890’s. It depicts a privileged family having an outing with their horse-drawn carriage. You can see the original sewer vent shaft in the background, which was installed in 1887.
