The photo, facing northwest, has no water or surf in it. It looks like an outing in the Sahara Desert. So I introduced a suggestion of the ocean foreshore in the front right corner to connect this image to its famous beach.
Bondi beach originally had an expanse of sand dunes which stretched as far as Rose Bay. This painting is inspired by a photo taken in the 1890’s. It depicts a privileged family having an outing with their horse-drawn carriage. You can see the original sewer vent shaft in the background, which was installed in 1887.
