Tamarama Wonderland was an amusement park at Tamarama beach. It sported a dirigible/zephyr/blimp that ran across a line from the north to the south headlands.
The Wonderland also offered elephant rides, a roller coaster, ice and roller skating rinks, a haunted house and 1000 seat theatre. It had 2 lives – the 1st from 1887 to 1891 when it came to an abrupt end following a damaging fire. The 2nd from 1906 to 1911 after a rebuild. It finally closed its doors due to pressure to restore public access to the beach. The elevated Wonderland Avenue is the only remaining vestige.
